About Us

Natural living, grounded in the world around us, is a way of life for Clay founder, Becky Metzger. She lives a sort of indoor-outdoor barefoot type of life at her home in the country. Having first hand experience of the profound benefits of nature on her mental and physical health, she wanted to bring her excitement and passion for plants and restorative spaces to our community. ‘Springfield is a very business driven city and there’s a large sector of people spending much of their time inside. It’s difficult to find solace and stay grounded in spaces closed off from the outdoors. With Clay, I hope to inspire people to feel more connected to the places they work and live. I do believe designing nature into these spaces is not just a luxury but a necessary investment in our health and our businesses.’ Just like the raw, earthy material under our feet, Clay Design is bringing people back to their roots and helping them feel grounded in everyday life.

Becky is a Plantscape Designer & founder of Clay Design Co. She has studied and worked as a Plantscape Designer for over 15 years on the beautiful coast of 30A in Florida, in the nature rich state of Colorado and now back in her hometown of Springfield.

She has attended the International Living Future Institute where she studied Biophilia and the immense benefits of nature and plants in our workspace and homes. Beckys passion for nature and design came at an early age. ‘You could find me digging in the garden beside my mom, creating flower arrangements or rearranging furniture and rooms until they were just so. I’ve always seen life in the little details and this has translated into my design aesthetic.
